Laois County Council (LCC) and the National Transport Authority (NTA) are currently preparing a Local Transport Plan (LTP) for Portlaoise Town. The completion of this LTP is an objective of the Eastern and Midlands Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy and its delivery will support many other national, regional and local objectives.
The LTP will seek to identify and recommend transport solutions to improve connectivity and accessibility within Portlaoise, ensuring that the town centre and its environs are a vibrant, attractive and sustainable place wherein to live, work, visit and invest.
The aim of this Survey is to firstly understand how people currently move around Portlaoise, why they choose current modes of transport, and what may encourage them to use more sustainable modes (i.e. walking, cycling, scooting, public transport) of transport in the future, if not already. We will use the results of this Survey to help inform and shape the recommendations and proposals of the Portlaoise LTP.
Thank you in advance for completing this Survey, and the Council looks forward to continued public interest and participation during the remainder of the Plan making process. Once a Draft Local Transport Plan has been developed, LCC will publish it for another round of consultation to once again get your feedback on the draft proposals.
