Notice of Proposed Development by Laois County Council
In accordance with Part XI, Section 179A of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended) and Part VIII, Article 80 & 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) Laois County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to carry out the following development:

Nature of Development
42 Lakeglen, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.
The development will consist of the demolition of existing extension and outbuildings and the construction of a new two bedroom and wetroom single storey extension onto the rear of the existing two storey dwelling, on a site of 0.0161 Ha, in Portlaoise, Co. Laois. The site is bounded to the North by the public footpath and road of Lakeglen estate, to the East and West by residential properties, and to the South by a public laneway providing access to the rear of the dwelling.
Details of development:
Demolition of existing single storey extension and outbuildings to the rear of the property, including boundary wall and shed of property No. 43, and the construction of new single storey extension to the rear, to provide two accessible bedrooms and wetroom on the ground floor. The development also includes foul and surface water drainage works, hard and soft landscaping, new boundary treatments and all associated site works
In accordance with the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC) the proposed scheme has undergone Appropriate Assessment Screening. In accordance with Article 120 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001-2018 Laois County Council has concluded from a preliminary examination, that there is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development and that an Environmental Impact assessment is not required. Any person may within 4 weeks from the date of this notice apply to An Bord Pleanala for a screening determination as to whether the proposed development would be likely to have significant effects.
Plans and particulars of the above proposed development are available for viewing on our online consultation portal at https://consult.laois from 13.06.2023 to 11.07.2023 inclusive. Plans and particulars are also available for inspection at the offices of Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, JFL Avenue, Portlaoise, Co. Laois from 13.06.2023 to 11.07.2023 inclusive.
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may also be made in writing to: Angela McEvoy, Director of Services, Laois County Council, Áras an Chontae, JFL Avenue, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, to be received not later than 4.00pm on 25.07.2023.
