My Name is Eoin Barry I am the labour party area representative for graiguecullen portarlington and ran in the 2019 local election. I was also a youth worker in Graiguecullen for 4 years.
In housing in Graiguellen development should be mixed allowing for the needs of different families and individuals.
The issue of different rent rates in places like fruit hill manor due to the county council differences should be addressed.
Future development should include provision for local amenities to meet the growing population.
Graiguecullen has a remarkable history - including the history of the croppy grave. Consideration should be given for having a public place to educate people on this history.
Develop further tourist options for the barrow including walking cycling and fishing.
Graiguecullen is its own community and development in carlow town wont meet the need for local people. Consideration should be given to further development of shopping and retail in graiguecullen including post offices or an atm.
Having people be able to meet their day-to-day needs locally instead of in carlow town would be of benefit.
A local bus to cover town link.
Clear cycle lanes to the primary school in st fiaccs.
Cycle lane to Knockbeg.
Address the speeding issues on the road outside heather hill.
Improved access to bus routes in general and have bus shelters.
Improved cycle lanes on n80.
Address cycle lane on road outside cill an oir.
Reduce use of chemical weed control
Improve barrow environment
Increase wildflower area
Increase access to local nature reserves for example in killeshin and clogreen - add local link to them.
Library for graguecullen
allow it to share local history and issues
Develop family resource centre in the area.
Develop youth cafe drop in
History walk for the area.
