Draft Laois Heritage and Biodiversity Stategy
Laois County Council invites you to take part in a consultation to help shape the Laois Heritage and Biodiversity Strategy, 2021-2026.
The draft Heritage and Biodiversity Strategy has been developed by Laois County Council working in conjunction with the members of Laois Heritage Forum, the Heritage Council and People Place Consulting and has been informed by the results of previous Heritage Plans for the county and consultation with stakeholders and the local community in 2020.
The draft Laois Heritage and Biodiversity Strategy seeks to establish an ambitious vision for management and conservation of our built, natural and cultural heritage in the changing context of the climate and biodiversity crisis as well as changed economic and political context at local regional and national level.
The aims of the Laois Heritage and Biodiversity Strategy are to:
- Conserve and enhance the heritage and biodiversity of Laois;
- Commemorate the people and events of historical significance for Laois;
- Integrate our work across built, natural and cultural heritage, where possible; and
- Celebrate and promote the heritage and biodiversity of Laois.
In order to deliver on our aims over the life of the strategy, we will target delivery of objectives across eight key action areas as set out in the draft.
