Notice is hereby given that jointly Carlow and Laois County Councils intend to prepare a Draft Joint Urban Local Area Plan for the Carlow-Graiguecullen Area and are now engaging in pre-draft consultation pursuant to Section 20 (1) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended).
The pre-draft consultation will inform preparation of the Draft Local Area Plan which will be subject to further consultation at a later stage which will be accompanied by an Environmental Report prepared as part of a Strategic Environmental Assessment under the Planning and Development (Strategic Environmental Assessment) Regulations, 2004 (as amended). The Draft Local Area Plan will also be subject to the Appropriate Assessment requirements under the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC).
To inform the process a pre-draft Issues Paper has been prepared in order to give a broad overview of the main development issues currently impacting on the Carlow-Graiguecullen Urban Area and identifies the issues that the next Local Area Plan could address.
